Bud Sukhu
Registered Psychotherapist / Counsellor
Life’s circumstances can often leave us feeling lost, anxious, or stuck, tangled in overwhelming thoughts and emotions. With my experience, education, and training, I can help you untangle these feelings and move forward to live a healthier life. I work alongside a team of psychiatrists for diagnostic and medication support, including ADHD, mood, and behavioral assessments. Direct billing to insurance is available.
As a Registered Psychotherapist in the Greater Toronto Area, I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology from York University and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology (MACP). I specialize in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Hypnotherapy (C.Hyp), and I am a Gottman-trained couples therapist.

I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental environment to help you work through emotional challenges and develop effective skills to navigate life’s difficulties.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, gardening, and volunteering in my community.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of psychotherapeutic treatment that helps people learn how to identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on behavior and emotions.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based treatment for many mental health conditions. With DBT, you learn to manage intense emotions, cope with distress, and cultivate healthy relationships.

Couples relationship counselling using the Gottman Method. The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication; increase intimacy, respect, and affection; remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.

Cognitive hypnotherapy combines cognitive behavioural therapy and hypnosis with theories based on modern neuroscience. Cognitive hypnotherapy is used to positively influence emotional, behavioural, cognitive and symptomatic change. This branch of hypnosis is different from traditional schools of hypnotherapy. This technique draws influence from a range of theories and combines them so that they fall in line with the client’s personal goals, values and needs.
